Brass Day

With Prime Brass

27th November 2011 | 9.30-6.00 | Sawston Village College

This brass day caters for all brass instruments and hopes to widen the repertoire of brass players. Inviting Prime Brass to lead this day ensures that all genres can be catered for. From grade 1 to diploma, school age to retirement, it will include small and large group playing as well as a lunchtime concert.

Prime Brass History

Prime Brass, local Cambridge ensemble are diverse in every manner, they can number 5 or 10, play Brahms or Blues, be serious or playful. Playing since 1989 when Paul Garner founded the ensemble, it is not surprising that they have such a good reputation. They can often be heard at Ely Cathedral or in King College Chapel, maintaining excellent relationships with Stephen Cleobury and other important musicians. Despite their dedication to their other careers they still manage to regularly produce their own concerts and recordings.

Prime Brass currently consists of the following superb musicians:

TRUMPETS: Michel Sedgwick, Gavin Bowyer, Paul Garner, Shaun Fitzgerald

HORN: Guy Llewellyn

TROMBONES: Alex Hewins, Neil George, Gary Davison, Julian Jarvis (bass)

TUBA: Christopher Lawrence
