Explore techniques for capturing a moment in watercolour with renowned watercolour artist and illustrator Lesley Fotherby. Join us for a day of observation, participation and learning, we will be painting each other at work and will be joined by a dressed model in the afternoon. During the day Lesley will demonstrate her techniques, discuss insights into catching the moment, consider colour mixing and materials and study paintings by artists who have managed to capture a moment. With years of experience as a professional artist and teacher Lesley is sure to inspire participants while they paint during this inspirational day. Artists of all abilities are welcome from school age to retirement. You will need to bring your own watercolours, paper and pencils.
Lesley Fotherby Biography
Lesley trained at Bath Academy where she did her foundation course and then studied in South London and at Leicester University. On leaving Lesley taught in Secondary schools and worked in a young adults centre until leaving the education world to paint full time. Since the 1980s she has been a gallery artist with Chris Beetles gallery in London and works in watercolours and oils. Her particular interest is in movement, whether it be the shifting moods of landscapes or people involved in playing or dancing. Lesley has been lucky enough to sit in on many sessions with musicians and dancers including The National Youth Ballet and Birmingham Royal Ballet. At present she is artist in residence with the City of Cambridge Symphony Orchestra.

• Watch and learn as Lesley demonstrates her techniques.
